Director, Global SME Product Management – Construction Industry LeadPosition overview: Mastercard is seeking a Director, Global SME Product Management – Construction Industry Lead to define and execute a global SME strategy for the Construction vertical. The role involves partnering with Mastercard regional and global stakeholders, banks, acquirers, fintechs and other SME service providers to identify strategic growth opportunities and serve SMEs in the Construction industry through multiple distribution channels.

LocationEurope (preference: Dublin / Lisbon / UK)

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a global strategy for SMEs in the Construction vertical, covering issuing and acceptance of card-based solutions.

Identify and define key partners (ISVs, marketplaces, financial institutions) and enable them as distribution partners for Mastercard solutions in the Construction vertical.

Engage with channel partners to gather feedback, drive program adoption, and ensure the operational framework supports partner success.

Assess and partner with global/regional/local players focused on Construction to enhance Mastercard SME payment offers.

Accelerate efforts to drive incremental volumes and revenues across regions in the Construction vertical.

Develop a dedicated value proposition for SMEs in the Construction industry, including domestic and cross-border flows and enabling SME card acceptance.

Provide trends and insights on the SME landscape to support industry/segment strategy beyond card.

Collaborate with global and regional SME segment product teams to ensure SME products are developed with inputs from SME and non-bank distribution partners, aligned with SME product distribution standards.

Map the Construction ecosystem globally and identify regions to penetrate SME B2B payment flows using Mastercard and partner solutions.

Partner with government, fintech, digital partnerships and GPS teams to identify potential SME Construction use cases.

Map distribution partners’ capabilities, offerings, needs, and gaps to identify product synergies; develop distribution model and commercial terms; lead contractual efforts with partners.

Develop industry-specific use cases, playbooks, and distribution model archetypes to scale efforts.

Provide pre- and post-sales support to sales teams with detailed product knowledge; customize go-to-market materials for SME Construction strategy.

Maintain distribution partners'' pipeline and track performance and impact of efforts.

Disseminate Thought Leadership/Best Practice sharing in Construction and embedded finance spaces.

Identify SME Construction flows to drive revenue and help win new deals; support GTM/Rollout for new Construction-related solutions and partnerships.

Qualifications / All About You

Experience and knowledge of the Construction sector, particularly SMEs.

Experience in financial services and payments; understanding of competitive offerings and industry trends; international market knowledge; SME banking or SME payment experience is a plus.

Experience at a top-tier management consulting firm is a strong plus.

Results-oriented with a focus on ROI from channel partnerships.

Ability to navigate both technical and business conversations.

Excellent writing skills and experience creating training materials and product guides.

Strong B2B and embedded payments experience; understanding of SME B2B flows (accounts payable, embedded finance, trade use cases).

Ability to work independently with minimal guidance; self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Flexible and creative; able to adapt to evolving responsibilities and multitask.

Strong storytelling and presentation skills with clear logic and structure.

Ability to lead initiatives end-to-end with effective time management and organization.

Build cross-functional relationships to execute strategy; strong customer relationship management skills.

Fluent in English.
