Pastoral Support Worker - Secondary Education Location: Burnley, Lancashire Contract Type: Long-Term Agency Placement (Permanent potential) Salary: £95 - £120 per day Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm (Monday - Friday, Term-Time) Are you passionate about student well-being and breaking down barriers to learning? We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Pastoral Support Worker to join a large, supportive Secondary School in Burnley. This is a high-impact role where you will be the first point of call for students needing emotional, social, or behavioural guidance. In this role, you aren''t just assisting a teacher; you are mentoring young people, managing attendance, and helping students navigate the challenges of secondary school life. Key Responsibilities Student Mentoring: Provide 1:1 and small group support for students struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or social challenges. Behaviour Support: Work alongside the pastoral team to implement positive behaviour strategies and de-escalate conflicts. Attendance Liaison: Identify patterns of persistent absence and work with families to encourage re-engagement with education. Crisis Intervention: Act as a safe, calm presence for students during high-stress moments or emotional outbursts. Safeguarding: Ensure all student concerns are reported and managed in line with the school''s safeguarding policies.
