About the Role:
Supply Desk are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Humanities/Religious Studies to lead their department and inspire students with a passion for the subject. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in Humanities or Religious Studies and proven leadership skills. As the Head of Department, you will play a key role in shaping the curriculum, promoting academic excellence, and fostering a nurturing learning environment for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the Humanities/Religious Studies department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Oversee the development and delivery of engaging and inclusive curriculum content that aligns with the school''s ethos and academic goals.
- Drive innovative and effective teaching practices to enhance student achievement and engagement in Humanities and Religious Studies.
- Collaborate closely with the senior leadership team to develop strategies for improving student outcomes and ensuring continuous improvement across the department.
- Provide guidance and support to teaching staff, fostering a culture of professional development and best practices.
- Monitor and assess departmental performance, implementing changes where necessary to maintain high standards.
- Promote and organise extracurricular activities to enrich students'' understanding and interest in Humanities and Religious Studies.
Key Requirements:
- A degree in a relevant field (Humanities, Religious Studies, History, etc.), with a strong academic record.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or significant teaching experience, ideally within the secondary education sector.
- Proven leadership experience, including the ability to manage and inspire a team of educators.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A passion for Humanities and Religious Studies, with a commitment to promoting these subjects within the school.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
