Quantity Surveyor | Tier 1 Main Contractor | Cut & Carve | Central London | Up to -75,000 + Package

A leading Tier 1 main contractor is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a cut & carve scheme. You''ll be the number two on the project, supporting the Senior QS and Managing QS and taking real ownership of your own packages and responsibilities.
This contractor has an excellent reputation, a strong pipeline and a genuine track record of developing and promoting its people. It''s a great platform for a QS ready to push on towards Senior level.
The role
- Implementing the project''s commercial strategy
- Supporting the Senior QS and Managing QS across all commercial functions
- Preparing tenders, analysing returns, selecting subcontractors, negotiating and finalising subcontract orders
- Financial and commercial management of subcontractors through to final account
- Valuations and maintaining the projected final account, prepared and submitted on time
- Preparing variations with full records and agreeing them as the works progress
- Assisting with forecasts, targets and CV reconciliations
- Being actively involved in the CVR process while keeping an independent view
- Reviewing commercial risk and opportunity
- Supporting good cash management
- Protecting the business''s commercial and contractual entitlement
- Liaising with the site management team and commercially challenging them where needed
- Maintaining site records, measurement records and document control
- Developing your understanding of insurances and warranties
- Supporting tenders as required
- Managing and overseeing Assistant and Trainee QSs, checking their work and taking responsibility for it
What you''ll need
- Cut & carve experience is essential. You must have worked on cut & carve projects, such as structural alterations, retained structures or major refurbishment of existing buildings. New build-only experience will not be considered.
- Main contractor experience is essential. Consultancy-only or subcontractor-only backgrounds will not be considered.
- A stable CV is essential. You''ll need to show solid tenure and commitment with previous employers. Frequent short-term moves will not be considered.
- Experience as a QS managing subcontract packages through to final account
- A sound understanding of CVRs, valuations and change control
- Good knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior QSs is an advantage
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
The package
- Up to -75,000 basic
- A full package including car or car allowance, pension, healthcare and holiday
- A clear progression route to Senior QS within a Tier 1 business
