This post supports a large and specialist paediatric unit based at Northampton General Hospital. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive Ophthalmic service at Northampton General Hospital and support a county-wide service, both at Northampton and Daventry. The post holder will help lead and develop this service and be an active member of the wider Ophthalmology team. The post ideally suits a forward-thinking individual with a desire to further their career in ophthalmology. A commitment to research and clinical audit is essential. FRCOphth or equivalent qualification and GMC specialist registration, or obtaining relevant CCT within 6 months of interview, are essential. Interview date TBC. Access to a serviceable vehicle and a valid driving licence is required. Proficiency in cataract surgery and a commitment to training is essential.Responsibilities
Provide a comprehensive Ophthalmic service and support county-wide service (Northampton and Daventry).Lead and develop the service; active member of the Ophthalmology team.Carry out teaching duties and participate in Postgraduate Medical Education and teaching of Ophthalmic Trainees.Contribute to teaching and training of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.Regularly attend departmental educational meetings.Participate in clinical audit and regional/national audits as required.Report critical incidents and support departmental audit and clinical governance meetings.Demonstrate commitment to service development and generate revenue through innovative practice.Qualifications
FRCOphth or equivalent qualification; GMC specialist register or eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview.Proficiency in cataract surgery; ability and willingness to train others.Ability to travel between Northampton and Daventry; access to vehicle and driving licence.Our values
