We are looking to appoint a Healthcare Support Worker Band 3 to join our Gynaecology team on Daphne Ward, The Rosie Hospital.Daphne Ward is 14 bedded in-patient bedded ward with 5 day patient beds. Patients are admitted for elective Benign/Reproductive Gynaecology surgery, Gynaecology Oncology, Urogynaecological surgery, and emergency Gynaecological surgery. The ward provides a bay of 4 beds and a separate side room for women having medical management of miscarriage or medical management for termination of pregnancy up to 18 weeks.We are seeking highly motivated and dynamic Healthcare Assistants with a passion for working within women''s heath to join our team. The successful applicant should be highly motivated with good interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure and work well within the team. They should have a keen desire to provide and maintain a high standard of care at all times. This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop a rewarding career where you can make a real difference to help change the lives of our service users for the better.You will be expected to carry out general and clinical observations of patients, reporting anything untoward to Registered Nursing Staff, to include: Recording of blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respiration rate, Oxygen saturation monitoring. In addition you will be expected to:Participate in all aspects of patient care with particular attention to personal hygiene and grooming.Provision of patients toileting needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.Support of patients in managing incontinence and promotion of continence.The recording of a patient''s fluid intake and output using fluid balance charts.Preparation and serving of patient''s meals, drinks and snacks. Assisting / feeding patients as necessary.Enable patients to maintain/improve their mobility by use of exercise and mobility appliances.Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered nurse in conjunction with the patient''s plan of careCarry out any movement and handling within the safe practice guidelines from your mandatory training and in relation to the patient''s manual handling plan.Obtaining specimens from patients for Ward or laboratory testing.
