About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently working with a supportive primary school in Waltham Forest who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for an ASAP start.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will provide support to pupils with additional needs, helping them to access learning and develop their confidence, communication and independence.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to provide consistent and effective support throughout the school day. The role will involve supporting pupils both within the classroom and on a 1:1 or small-group basis where required.

The school is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is patient, proactive and confident building positive relationships with pupils.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
  
• Support pupils to access the curriculum.
  
• Assist with learning activities and classroom tasks.
  
• Support pupils'' social, emotional and behavioural development.
  
• Implement individual support strategies.
  
• Encourage independence and positive behaviour.
  
• Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
  
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
  
• Adapt resources and activities where appropriate.
  
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  

Qualifications/Experience

• Previous UK school experience is essential.
  
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
  
• Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH or challenging behaviour would be advantageous.
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  
• Good understanding of safeguarding.
  
• Valid DBS on the Update Service is desirable.
