About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently working with a welcoming primary school in Tower Hamlets who are looking to appoint a dedicated Phonics Teaching Assistant for a November start.

The successful Phonics Teaching Assistant will support pupils with their early reading and phonics development, working closely with teachers to deliver targeted support to children who may need additional help developing their reading skills.

You will support phonics sessions, work with individuals and small groups and help pupils build confidence with sounds, blending, segmenting and early reading.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Phonics Teaching Assistant who is passionate about early reading and enjoys helping children make progress.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of structured phonics sessions.
  
• Work with individuals and small groups of pupils.
  
• Reinforce phonics sounds, blending and segmenting.
  
• Support pupils with early reading and comprehension.
  
• Help children develop confidence and independence.
  
• Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs.
  
• Track pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  
• Work closely with the class teacher and phonics lead.
  
• Support pupils who require additional intervention.
  
• Maintain a positive and engaging learning environment.
  

Qualifications/Experience

• Previous UK primary school experience is essential.
  
• Experience supporting phonics is highly desirable.
  
• Knowledge of a recognised phonics programme would be advantageous.
  
• Strong understanding of early reading development.
  
• Patient, enthusiastic and nurturing approach.
  
• Excellent communication skills.
  
• Ability to work effectively with children individually and in small groups.
  
• Valid DBS on the Update Service is desirable.
